Massage helps to manipulate the muscles and fascia (connective tissue) of the the body, improving blood flow and breaking down scar tissue from previous injuries.

It has been shown to help back pain when combined with an exercise program and education. In addition it helps reduce the level of stress hormones in the body, helping to lower anxiety and also blood pressure, this affect also helps concentration.

Following injury it is important to remove the build up of inflammatory chemicals in the tissues which cause pain and associated weakening of muscles. Massage does this through increased blood flow, which also brings in the cells to repair the damage plus nutrients and oxygen to restore the health of the muscle.

Stimulation of the muscles and their connective fascia also helps to cause a reflex reduction in pain following the treatment. In other words it feels good!
