What Is Chiropractic?
Derived from the Greek Chiro (hands)-praktos (to be done) meaning literally done by hand. It is primarily the manipulation or adjustment of the joints, where the aim is to restore normal function to the motion at the joint.
Chiropractic is a primary health-care profession that specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of neuromuscular conditions that are due to dysfunction of the joints and muscles. The aim is to maintain spinal and joint health to keep you fitter and prevent or slow degenerative processes.
There is a huge variation in the type of treatment given by different Chiropractors, Osteopaths or Physiotherapists. Some practitioners appear to only manipulate the spine, or some may use gentler techniques or more muscle work, or a combination of both. Any therapist worth his salt should be advising you on specific rehabilitation, if they aren’t you will be more likely to have recurrences of your pain or maybe not get the result you could.
At Back In Form we aim to give treatment that encompasses all the hands on methods possible to address the issues of locked joints, stiffer joints through mobilisation, massage techniques and / or acupuncture for soft-tissue injuries, balance training and specific rehabilitation program to train correct movement patterns and stability. It is an active treatment plan where we work to train you, NOT passive care where we do all the work. This should help to ensure a more effective and hopefully longer lasting benefit.
So if you want to get out of pain but also get your body working more efficiently helping you to reduce inflammation and irritation and the subsequent wear and tear give us a call to discuss how we can help you.
