| What
happens at my first consultation? |
| After
completing a patient details and consent to
examination form you will be taken in for the
consultation. A brief synopsis of the reasons
we get problems will be given. This is followed
by a thorough history of the current problem
plus your previous health history. |
| You
will then be examined, patients will be asked
to disrobe to their underwear, female patients
will be given a gown, this can be extended to
males if they feel uncomfortable. The examination:
comprises standard Orthopaedic and Neurological
tests, specific Chiropractic tests, Postural
evaluation, evaluation of individual joints
and related soft-tissues and a functional assessment
to ascertain specific areas of weakness. |
| X-rays
are ordered when clinically necessary, in accordance
with guidelines of the Royal College of Radiologists. |
| At
this point you will be given some advice on
pain relief and if you are serious about resolving
your pain you will be invited to re-schedule
for the next 40 minute appointment when you
will receive the report of findings. |
| Report
of Findings |
| At
the next visit you will be given a breakdown
of your problem and how it will be treated.
This includes; Why you are getting the pain,
what structures are involved, type of treatment
required, frequency and cost of the treatment,
possible complications or risks of treatment,
prognosis for recovery. This will be given using
a spinal model and X-rays if available to help
you understand your problem and you will be
able to ask questions at any time. You will
then be asked for your consent to treatment,
which will commence at the first visit. |
